LSE Fellow in Human Geography Dr Deen Sharp has published an article in The Journal of Architecture entitled ‘Concretising Conflict’.
The article is part of Dr Sharp’s ongoing work on the urbanisation of warfare. The article examines the materiality of the city in war, focusing on concrete and cement. It details the case of ‘L’affaire Lafarge’ that refers to the ongoing court case brought by eleven Syrian former employees of Lafarge Cement Syria who accuse Lafarge of financing a terrorist enterprise, complicity in war crimes and crimes against humanity, forced labour, and the deliberate endangerment of their lives.
